Have you ever described someone as "warped?"  On today's Footsteps, missionary Auden Lujan refers to some of the parents he knows in Peru as "broken and twisted."  You see, Auden and his wife, Wendy, work with children from broken homes.  Auden says, "a child, you can mold--you can change."  Their parents are another story!  They are often stuck in their bad, dysfunctional, and sinful ways. 

Dictionary.com defines the word "warp" as "to bend or twist out of shape" and "to bend or turn from the natural or true direction or course."(1)  That's an accurate description of these "broken and twisted" Peruvian parents.  They have turned away from God's natural, biblical plan for life, marriage, and parenting.  They are truly warped.  And for any carpenter who has tried to work with a heavily warped or twisted board, it's almost impossible to straighten it.  Thankfully, by God's grace, our Lord can do the impossible and straighten even the most broken, twisted, and warped individuals.
