Not Merely a Prophet
Christianity isn't the only religion that mentions Jesus. Several other major religions view Jesus as a great teacher, a holy man, and a prophet. But as Christians, we know that Jesus is more than just a well-respected religious man. In the words of John the Baptist, we recognize Jesus as "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). Like Martha, we declare, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God" (John 11:27). And, along with many of the Samaritans, we too confess that "this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world” (John 4:42). So, with this testimony, may we take Dr. Erwin Lutzer's admonition (on today's Footsteps) seriously, and pray that the Holy Spirit will use us to help our friends from other religions "understand that Jesus is actually a Savior and not merely a prophet" and that He is the only One who "can take us all the way from earth to heaven."
