Long-time TWR veteran Bill Mial defines syncretism in the African Church as "a blending of the Gospel message with African tradition."  While Bill is primarily talking about Africa, I believe this topic applies to the United States as well.  Think about some of the ways that we blend American or western secular ideas with a Biblical worldview.  For instance, what happens when you mix "the pursuit of happiness" from the Declaration of Independence, a greedy culture, a focus on self, and a sprinkling of Bible verses?  The dangerous and distorted "Prosperity Gospel."
