Your Enemy’s Future
A traveler in New Mexico saw a Native American with his head to the ground as if he were listening. The traveler heard him muttering, "Wagon, one driver, two passengers, and two horses."
The traveler was absolutely amazed and questioned the Native American, "You mean to tell me that you can tell all of this by listening to the ground?"
"No," he replied, “They just ran over me a few minutes ago.”
There are many believers who have been run over by Satan and do not know how to get up and fight back.
There was a camel driver who was taking a caravan across the desert for a few day's journey. One morning the driver said to his companions, "We had intruders last night." They looked at him in amazement and asked how he could tell when they had neither heard nor seen anyone. He pointed to the tracks in the sand the intruder left behind.
If anyone does not believe in Satan, let him open his eyes to the tracks our enemy leaves—broken homes and devastated families. As a believer in Jesus Christ, you have been given authority over Satan. He is a defeated foe.
Though Satan yet seeks to wreak havoc in the lives of God’s people and to see the world turn away from the one, true God, Jesus reminds His disciples (and us) that Satan is utterly vanquished. Jesus said, "Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out" (John 12:31).
After Jesus' resurrection, Satan's sentence was passed down. Now it is a matter of waiting for God's timing to carry out the sentence. When Jesus returns, He will execute His judgment against Satan.
There is no mistaking Satan's future; likewise, your eternal future can be decided by committing your life to the ultimate victor, the only one who offers eternal life—Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Lord, I praise You that Satan is utterly vanquished. When I am faced with his evil work in my life and in the world, may I recognize it for what it is and find strength to endure and fight back with faith. For, You have secured the victory for me over the enemy forever. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” (1 John 5:11).
