Vision Adjustments
Have you ever had a dream that you could accomplish something great for the Lord? But before you could see it unfold, obstacles appeared to block your way and tempt you to give up your dream.
One moment you were on top of the world, the next you were in a valley of hopeless thoughts—all because you listened as someone spoke a careless word of discouragement. It was as if someone had poured a pitcher of cold water over your red-hot vision. Now the fire is out, the ashes are smoldering, and the stench of death is choking your senses.
God is the one who helps us cast our vision, and He does not want us to give up. No matter how trying your situation becomes, never give up and never give in to the enemy’s suggestions that you will never realize your dreams for the Lord. Sometimes, our vision simply needs an adjustment.
Paul envisioned himself preaching in Rome. In Acts 24, he begins to make a turn in that direction. By the grace of God, Paul arrived safely in Rome—though he never thought he would arrive as a prisoner.
Because Paul’s faith was placed solely in God, his testimony in Christ was preached not only in the city but throughout the palace guard. If that were not enough, his witness resulted in the spreading of the Gospel throughout the world.
As you continue to pursue your vision, at times you may not understand why your life takes sudden turns. But be patient—God has a plan. He was faithful to Paul (see Acts 23:11), and He will do the same for you. So be encouraged!
Prayer: Lord, I bow in humble adoration to You. You are my Savior and my living Lord. When obstacles arise, I will look to You and trust in Your faithfulness. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:5-7).
