Jump In
Recently, I traveled to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and to Lake Superior. Even though it was summer, I was very hesitant about wading out into the lake. There was one family that was thoroughly enjoying the water, but there were far more people remaining on shore. What did I do? I carefully walked to the edge of the water, waited for a gentle wave, and then I reached down and touched the water with my fingers. The water was cool but not cold. Still, I chose not to go any farther.
But what about that family? There was a mother, her three children, and their golden retriever, and they were laughing, splashing, and floating on a paddle board--including the dog! They were not hesitant about getting into the water. They jumped right in and found joy and excitement.
OMS missionary Nube Vogan speaks to us in a similar way concerning ministry opportunities on today's Footsteps. First, listen to the program, and then, do some soul-searching. If you've been wrestling with the thought of taking a more active role in Christian ministry, whether at your church, a local ministry, or perhaps in global missions work, Nube encourage you to "Jump in, and serve the Lord!"
