Not Good Enough
Elisabeth Saeth, the TWR Women of Hope National Coordinator for Norway, points out on today's Footsteps that many women have feelings of inadequacy. They say to themselves, "I'm not good enough." I have no doubt that many men feel the same way concerning the various areas of their lives. But, the honest truth is that when it comes to the matter of our eternal salvation, none of us are "good enough." According to Romans 3:23 (NKJV), we "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" or as the NLT puts it, "we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." So, how can we be saved from the penalty of our sin? Through Jesus! Being fully God, Jesus left His throne in Heaven, came to earth, was born as a baby, lived an absolutely perfect life, and yet was then crucified on a Roman cross. Why? Because Jesus was the only one "good enough" to merit salvation. Being perfectly good, He took on our sin and died in our place. He "has purchased us to be his own people" (Ephesians 1:14b, NLT). And, when we put our faith in Jesus, not only will we one day experience Heaven, but now, we're literally "accepted" (Ephesians 1:6b, NKJV) by God through Jesus. You could say that Jesus makes us "good enough." Now, let me ask you, have you trusted Christ with your life?
