Burned Churches and Beaten Christians
TWR's Branko Bjelajac maintains that persecution against Christians living in the Middle East is increasing "and nobody is paying notice." On today's Footsteps, Branko makes reference to "burned churches" and "beaten Christians" in "the Arab states." Unfortunately, this type of persecution is not new to believers. In the New Testament Church, the apostle Paul mentions, "In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind. We have been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food" (2 Corinthians 6:4-5, NLT). Paul even goes on to say, "We are ignored" (2 Corinthians 6:9a, NLT). So, while much of today's world is ignoring these persecuted Christians, may we not fail to pray for our troubled brothers and sisters in Christ.
