A Gangster in India
I've seen plenty of movies and television shows that featured gangsters and crime bosses, but I admit that I've never met a mobster in person. However, on a trip to India, Thru The Bible President Gregg Harris actually met such a man. This man introduced himself by saying, "I was a criminal. ... I ordered the death of a number of people." While there is no doubt that this man committed heinous sin, the good news is that this man is not without hope! Let's turn to the second chapter of Mark:
"Now it happened, as He (Jesus) was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, 'How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?'
"When Jesus heard it, He said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.'" (Mark 2:15-17, NKJV)
May Jesus be praised for bringing salvation to all of us, even the most notorious of sinners.
