When Conditions Are Bad
According to TWR's Steve Shantz, speaking of Venezuela, "When conditions are bad like this, people are asking questions, and people are seeking the Lord." You see, God uses suffering to draw people to Himself. If you're like me, I don't ask God to bring difficulty my way, but I have to admit that in His sovereignty, He works through pain and suffering to demonstrate his love and strength.
Let's quickly turn to God's Word for an example. Do you remember Jesus' encounter with the blind man in John 9:1-3 (NKJV)?
"Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'
"Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
If Jesus was at work through this man's blindness, and if Jesus is at work through the hard economic times in Venezuela, don't you think He is working through the trials in your life? Absolutely! I hope you can take some comfort in that fact.
