Father and Brother
On today's Footsteps, a man that we simply refer to as "Aybek" tells the story of a father and son who both came to know Christ as Savior. When the father finds out about his son's faith, he excitedly tells his son, "I'm your brother!" It might seem strange for a father to also be a brother to his son, but in the case of our relationship with fellow believers, the term "brother" is very biblical. Let me give you an interesting example from the apostle Paul...
"For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers." (Romans 8:29, HCSB)
Did you catch it? God's Son, Jesus, is "the firstborn among many brothers." Within the Kingdom of God, not only is Jesus our Lord and Savior, but He's also our "brother." Try and wrap your mind around that fact!
