My Seminary
Ponder this contrast. Concerning pastors in the U.S., a 2010 telephone survey from LifeWay Research "of more than 1,000 Protestant pastors shows two-thirds have obtained at least a Master's degree" and "85 percent say they have taken seminary classes."(1) On the other hand, let's look at a country like Ecuador. On a previous episode of Footsteps, missionary Fred Jonkman pointed out, "when we came here, they were saying in Ecuador that about 80 percent of the pastors have no training whatsoever." This huge void in Bible training in many parts of the world is one of the reasons why TWR's partnership with Thru The Bible is vitally important. As Thru The Bible President Gregg Harris tells us on today's Footsteps, "We hear over and over again that 'Thru The Bible is my seminary.'" And honestly, for many of these pastors, it's the only seminary training that they will ever have the opportunity to receive.
