General George Washington issued this order to his troops at Valley Forge:

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good Citizens and soldiers we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of Religion.  To the distinguished Character of Patriot, it should be our highest Glory to add the more distinguished Character of Christian."  (General Orders, Head Quarters, Valley Forge, May 2, 1778)

Like George Washington, missionary Bill Crandall knows the importance of Christian character.  Bill puts it this way on today's Footsteps: "Without having Christian character, reflecting God's character, it doesn't really matter what you can do or what you know."
