I was convicted of something this morning.  As I was heading to the front door, I passed a beautiful wooden sign that one of our friends made for our home.  It says: "Welcome to the Napiers ... Serving Christ."  On one hand, I would say that I have the "serving Christ" part down.  I've been involved in full-time ministry for over 30 years now.  But, I was convicted about the fact that I'm often so busy serving Him that I don't spend time simply loving Him.  After all, when Jesus was asked,

"'Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?'  And he said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.'"  (Matthew 22:36-38, ESV)

While serving Jesus is an important part of being His disciple, it's more important and more vital that we love Him and His Word.  That's why Thru the Bible's Gregg Harris is so emphatic when he states the "essence" of TTB's ministry: "We want people to know Jesus ... and then we want them to fall in love with the Word of God."
