"You cannot have it two ways.  You can't have the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of mammon," states Ron Frey on today's Footsteps.  But those words didn't originate with Ron.  In Matthew 6:24 (Amplified), Jesus explains, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord]."  Notice that Jesus does not say that it's "difficult" to serve both God and money.  He says that it "cannot" be done!  Now would be a good time for all of us to do some self-evaluation to determine if we are serving anything else rather than God.
