Thinking about the Death Rate
For the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, just about every newscast mentioned how many people had contracted the coronavirus and how many people had died from it. Still today, everywhere we turn, we're hearing about the death rate. On today's Footsteps, TWR President Lauren Libby reminds us, "Well ... the mortality rate is 100%." There can be no debate with that statement. Eventually, either by accident, disease, old-age, or a variant of COVID, we will all die. But, for the believer in Jesus, we will be raised to new life in Heaven. Meditate on these encouraging verses:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16, NKJV)
"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself." (Philippians 3:20-21, NKJV)
"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:1-4, NKJV)
These promises are wonderful! But, a heavenly future only awaits those who believe in Jesus as their Savior. So, where do you stand with Jesus? If you are unsure, click on the link below and watch a video about "Knowing God."
