The Blessings of Being a Child
There are four things to consider when reflecting on calling God “Our Father.”
First, having God as our Father means there is an end to all fear. Other religions are terrified of their gods. We’re not afraid of our God because He has adopted us as sons and daughters.
Second, He gives us all the hope and confidence we need to banish uncertainty from our lives. In God, we have salvation, protection, peace, and joy unspeakable—even in tough times.
Third, when God is our Father, we have companionship. Our families may reject us and our friends may forsake us, but our heavenly Father never will. Jesus said: “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him” (John 14:21).
Finally, when God is our Father, we have His provision. All of the resources of heaven are available to God’s children. The problem is that our lack of faith and ingratitude often block these blessings.
Prayer: Father, thank You for all that I have because I am Your child. Thank You that I can call you my Father. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, . . .” (Galatians 3:26).
