The Country that Fears God
While in Malawi, I met a TWR listener named "Thomas." During our conversation, he made a very simple and yet profound comment. Thomas stated, "The country that fears God is a good country." I wish that every citizen and government official in the United States could hear Thomas' admonition. To reinforce this concept, meditate on the following verses:
And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day. (Deuteronomy 6:24, ESV)
Praise the LORD!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments! (Psalm 112:1, ESV)
In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence,
and his children will have a refuge.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
that one may turn away from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:26-27, ESV)
And his mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation. (Luke 1:50, ESV)
