My wife Kathy and I have enjoyed the music of Keith and Kristyn Getty for years, so I was very excited to talk with Keith on today's Footsteps.  As you listen to the program, you'll hear Keith Getty refer to "musical grammar."  What's he talking about?  Basically, it's the lyrical content of the music.

Now, I have some homework for you.  First, listen to today's Footsteps.  Then, start paying special attention to the words in the music that you are hearing and singing--on the radio and at church.  Is the focus on God or man?  Does the song come from an eternal or temporal perspective?  Are the lyrics rooted in Scripture?  As you examine the music that you are singing, I think you're "musical grammar" will improve.
