Change My Heart
A longtime veteran of Trans World Radio, Bill Mial, tells the story on today's Footsteps of the time TWR founder Dr. Paul Freed asked him to oversee a new project. It was to be TWR's first radio signal into India. However, Bill was not excited about it. In truth, Bill didn't care for the thought of traveling to or working in India. So, he prayed, "Lord, you've got to change my heart." And, when you listen to today's episode, you'll hear the result of that prayer. But first, let's consider Bill's prayer.
It's easy for us to pray for the Lord to "open a door" or "make a way" or "cause something to happen." Do you notice that in all of these cases, we're praying for an external result? Maybe we should follow Bill Mial's approach and begin by praying for the Lord to work in our own hearts. Then, it should be easier to identify with Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, "not as I will, but as you will" (Matthew 26:39b, ESV).
