The Third Sphere of Stewardship March 10th, 2016
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. – Luke 14:27
God has also given us stewardship over the area of our treasures. God wants us to bring all our treasures under His lordship.
One aspect of treasures is our ambition.
God should have priority over our personal goals. Today’s verse shows that we must be willing to trade in our own goals for His goals.
Jesus also said, “None of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions” (Luke 14:33). Being willing to give over all we have is a sign that we’re placing God in the premiere position, where He belongs. We’re respecting Him as God. If we acknowledge God in our prayers or at church but don’t treat Him as God in our lives and stewardship, we will not experience the benefits of the kingdom that He promises.
A lot of us never enjoy knowing that God has our back because we’re too busy trying to have our own way. A steward who willingly places his own goals and ambitions in God’s hands will get to see God in a way unlike many others. When God is all you have, you discover that God is all you need.
