What does success look like for a Christian missionary who is working in a difficult field?  Some supporting churches and individuals back home might instantly want to ask about the bottom line--numbers!  I can hear those questions now: "How many people have you lead to Christ over the past year?"  "How many baptisms have you performed?"  "How many people are attending your new church?"  Well, in the case of Rodney Kidd, who is a missionary to Mannheim, Germany, he confesses, "I get impatient.  I like to see things happen.  I like to see people saved.  I like to write letters back that are just flaming with results and victories and salvation, and you don't have that in Europe by and large."  That's tough.  Both the missionary and his supporters are hoping and praying for "results and victories and salvation," but often, the work is just slow!  That's why a missionary must be a "person of perseverance" and "committment," claims Rodney.  And, after interviewing dozens of missionaries, I totally agree!  That's also why you must keep praying for your missionary so that he or she doesn't get discouraged.
