They Have the Right
I met Mark Cain at a missionary retreat in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Mark and his wife Joyce had been serving as missionaries for over 40 years among the Guahibo people in neighboring Colombia. Mark's assignment was to translate an updated New Testament for the Guahibo. He completed the task shortly before losing a battle with an aggressive form of cancer. On today's Footsteps, we return to an interview I recorded with Mark in May of 2017 concerning his Bible translation project. In our conversation, Mark pointed out, "We feel that the Guahibo people have the right to have the Word of God in their language so that they can understand it and act upon what God has commanded them to do." That passion compelled Mark to carry the Gospel to the Guahibo. But there remains much more work to be done. There are still thousands of unreached people groups scattered around the world who need to hear about Jesus. Is God calling you to follow in Mark's footsteps? Is God calling you to missionary service? You might be saying, "Maybe, but where do I start?" Mark and Joyce served with Ethnos360. As for me, I'm with TWR. I'll provide links below to both ministries. If you sense a nudge in the direction of missions, I hope and pray that you'll begin exploring options.
