On today's Footsteps, Scott Rodin of The Steward's Journey talks about living "fully for Jesus."  As I've been listening to Scott, I've identified three "chains" that hold us back from living a joyful and abundant life--Satan, sin, and stuff.  So, what are we to do with these heavy chains that bind us and prevent us from living "fully for Jesus?"  The author of Hebrews has the answer for us:

"... let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."  (Hebrews 12:1a-2, NKJV)

Fix your eyes on Jesus.  Run after Him.  Cast aside everything that keeps getting in the way and tripping you.  A truly satisfying and abundant life is not found by giving in to Satan's lies and temptations, by dabbling in secret sin, or by acquiring more and more earthly stuff.  It's simply found by growing closer to Jesus.  That's where you will find real joy!
