Thief
"The thief was looking for music on the radio. Instead, he found TWR, and it changed his life!" That's the way today's Footsteps begins as TWR's Harry Bettig tells the story of a thief who came to know Jesus as a result of listening to Thru The Bible on TWR. I encourage you to listen to the full story. And to accompany today's program, I would like to make a couple of observations. First, notice that "the thief" was not seeking God. He was not even looking for TWR. We shouldn't be surprised. The apostle Paul points out in Romans 3:10-11 (ESV): "as it is written: None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God."
So, how did this man happen to tune in to TWR? I can assure you that it was no accident. Again, we shouldn't be surprised. Let me point out what Jesus said when he was visiting with Zacchaeus: "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10, ESV) You see, before Jesus saves us, He seeks us. In today's story, even though the thief was not looking for TWR, Jesus made sure that this thief stopped and listened to TWR as he was scanning across the radio dial. Jesus drew the thief to Himself. Let us all praise Jesus--the One who "came to seek and to save the lost."
