He Apologized
"Zacchaeus was a wee, little man, and a wee little man was he. He climbed up in a sycamore tree, for the Lord he wanted to see!"
Do you remember singing that song as a child? Maybe you sang it recently with your children. Well, there's more to the story of Zacchaeus than the fact that he was "a wee, little man" who "climbed up in a sycamore tree" to see Jesus. In Luke 19 (NIV), we read that Zacchaeus was "a chief tax collector" (v. 2) and that his neighbors called him a "sinner" (v. 7). In his line of work, he evidently had wronged a lot of people. But after encountering Jesus, Zacchaeus said, "If I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount" (v. 8). Now that's repentance!
On today's Footsteps, TWR's Global Director for Men's Ministry, Lonnie Berger, relays a contemporary story of sin, forgiveness, and repentance. Give it a listen.
