The decisions we make will determine the outcome of our lives in every sphere.

Jesus said, “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall” (Matthew 7:26-27).

As you think about this parable and its relevance to you, remember that in Scripture a house can symbolically refer to one of four different things.

As you think about this parable and its relevance to you, remember that in Scripture a house can symbolically refer to one of four different things. Each of them is a sphere to which kingdom men should be bringing their influence.

1. The Individual: Kingdom people pursue personal purpose and aim to leave a lasting impact.

2. The Family: Kingdom people seek to impact their homes in such a way that all within them grow to be mature, responsible believers in Christ.

3. The Church: Kingdom people concern themselves with the spiritual footprint they are making with their lives.

4. The Society: Kingdom people involve themselves in the structural entities that govern a land so as to influence the culture for Christ.

There were two men in the parable Jesus told. Both wanted to build something lasting.

There were two men in the parable Jesus told. Both wanted to build something lasting. Both desired personal development, familial influence, ministry impact, and societal good. Each wanted a life of significance. A family that was strong. A ministry that was effective. And a culture that was ordered well.

Yet these men pursued these goals differently, and this showed up in the results. One man built his house on the rock. His house stood. The other man built his house around a shaky foundation. His house fell hard.

So, what are you building your life around?
