During their three-year expedition through the American Northwest, explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark relied on the help of Sacagawea as a guide and language interpreter.  In a much greater and more powerful way, the Holy Spirit is a guide and interpreter for believers in Jesus.  As Pete Walker explains on today's Footsteps, specifically concerning personal evangelism, "You've got this lead; we have a guide ... who will give us words of wisdom."  But let's not solely rely on Pete's words.  Here are some passages of Scripture that speak of the role of our helper--the Holy Spirit:

"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." (Romans 8:14, ESV)

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, ESV)

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." (John 14:26, ESV)

"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.  And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." (Romans 8:26-27, ESV)

With the knowledge that the Holy Spirit is your lead, guide, power, strength, teacher, and helper, I hope that you will feel more confident in sharing your faith in Jesus with others.
