In Unison
In the world of global missions, by necessity, there is a great deal of cooperation and partnership between Christian ministries and missionary agencies. In fact, FEBC President Ed Cannon talks about this subject of "unison and unity" on today's Footsteps.
To clarify, when we're speaking about Christian unity, we're not referring to tolerence. True unity doesn't exist when we're overlooking major theological differences just so that we can all get along with one another. I've never forgotten this particular note in the MacArthur Study Bible:
"Oneness and harmony among believers is possible only when it is built on the foundation of sound doctrine."(1)
So, whenever you hear someone talk about unity among Christians, keep Dr. MacArthur's perspective in mind. It's an important distinction!
