Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul to clear up some major misunderstandings about the gospel. And since some of these same errors are common among Christians today, we should pay attention to its message.
Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul to clear up some major misunderstandings about the gospel.
The Christians in Galatia were confused because there were false teachers who were telling them that you had to work hard to earn the acceptance of God. They said that human effort was necessary for salvation, that it was all about what we do. This, of course, is completely contrary to God’s message of grace.
Grace is the underlying theme of the book of Galatians.
Grace is the underlying theme of the book of Galatians. Paul says that it’s impossible to live up to God’s standards on our own, because the way of the flesh (our human efforts) and the way of the Spirit are diametrically opposed. In fact, they are at war. That’s why Galatians teaches us that the only way to obtain victory over the flesh is through God’s grace. To experience the liberty, freedom and victory that the true gospel offers, we must adopt a kingdom-based mindset, living in the power of the Spirit in order to defeat the power of the flesh.
Here’s a short video that highlights five key themes in Galatians. May you be blessed by it.
