How to Order the Inside
"In these places where there is so much tradition," explains TWR's Shawn Boyd, "without Christ, they don't know how to order the inside." On today's Footsteps, Shawn goes deeper into this discussion of reaching the Japanese people with the Gospel. And, as you listen and contemplate Shawn's description of "how to order the inside," it might be a good idea to examine your own life. You see, the pressures of society and tradition aren't exclusive to Japan. Are you primarily focusing on wealth, status, insfluence, and outward appearance? What about "the inside"? I encourage you to spend some time today meditating on the following verses:
"Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel--rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:3-4, NKJV)
"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." (Philippians 2:12-13, NKJV)
Remember, God works "in" a person. He transforms "the hidden person of the heart." I hope you find this concept liberating!
