How Dare You!
I've worked in the radio industry for nearly 40 years, and I can assure you of this fact: You can't please every listener! Someone will always complain, and in Christian radio, some of those complaints come from non-Christian listeners. This unhappy result is actually biblical. Why? Because the truth often offends--especially the Gospel. As believers, we certainly should present the Gospel with kindness, gentleness, love, and respect, but we should never shy away from the truth of Scripture. We should never downplay the absolute necessity of Jesus--the one and only Savior of the world--The "Cornerstone." Still, people will be offeneded.
"For it stands in Scripture:
'Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
a cornerstone chosen and precious,
and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.'
So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,
'The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.'
and
'A stone of stumbling,
and a rock of offense.'" (1 Peter 2:6-8a, ESV)
On today's Footsteps, TWR's Ann White tells the story of an Algerian woman who was offended by a TWR Women of Hope broadcast. Her first comment began with, "How dare you!" But, she kept listening. And, I hope you will listen to today's episode ... and then pray.
