A few days ago, I accidently dropped a heavy suitcase on my left foot.  My foot became bruised and swollen, and it was difficult to put any weight on it.  Often, that first step was challenging and painful, so there were times when my wife would have to pull me up out of a chair.  Literally, she had to give me a step-up.

In a far more serious situation, there are many widows in Africa who will not be able to take care of themselves and their children unless someone else steps in and helps pull them out of their current circumstance.  That's the heartbeat of Miriam Neff and Widow Connection.  They come alongside these widows and teach them a career skill that will enable them to provide for their families. Is it working?  Absolutely!  As Miriam explains on today's Footsteps, "They just needed a step-up."
