Boast in Christ Alone
In a million lifetimes, we cannot do anything for our salvation—it is God’s gift, totally undeserved. This is why no one can brag or boast about their role in their salvation. From beginning to end, it is God’s plan and work. All boasting should be in the Lord alone.
Not only did Jesus pay the penalty for our sin and free us from eternal death, He opened the door for us to be adopted as sons and daughters of God. Through God’s gift of faith, we receive salvation. When we do, we also receive His name, His power, His resources, and His blessings. He dresses us in His royal robes of righteousness. He does it all, and all praise, honor, and glory are His.
There are no accomplishments, possessions, or connections that will help us on Judgment Day. The only contact who matters is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only one who is going to secure our salvation, and so our boasting is in Him alone.
Have you submitted fully to the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you accepted His free gift of salvation by faith? Are you boasting in the Lord alone? Take some time to reflect on who is receiving the glory in your life.
Prayer: God, thank You for the free gift of salvation. I pray that I will always give You all the glory because You alone are worthy. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“Therefore, as it is written: ‘Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord’” (1 Corinthians 1:31).
