In the 1971 film Big Jake, John Wayne (as Jacob McCandles) delivered one of his most famous lines, "You're short on ears and long on mouth."  Nearly 3000 years earlier, Solomon wrote this very simliar proverb about speaking and listening:

"If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame." (Proverbs 18:13, ESV)

Many of us have a tendency to speak before we listen.  Not only can that approach get us into trouble, but it can be counterproductive when witnessing to an unbeliever.  On today's Footsteps, Dr. Erwin Lutzer (pastor emeritus of the Moody Church in Chicago) gives us some wise advice concerning personal evangelism.  I think both John Wayne and King Solomon would agree with Dr. Lutzer.  Don't miss today's program.
