Despair but Great Hope
During difficult seasons of life, I've often asked myself, "Without the hope of Jesus, how can people make it through hard times?" Well, on today's Footsteps, Danny Rojas describes the desperate situation that many Cubans are facing--a lack of food, medicine, and fuel. Danny is the Bible teacher on the radio program El Faro de Redencion which airs on TWR-Bonaire each night and is heard clearly all across the island of Cuba. Danny points out, "There's the great need that people have, and then there's the great hope of the Gospel." That's why that as believers in Jesus, we are compelled at TWR to share the eternal hope of Christ with the Cuban people. You see, through Jesus, we can approach the trials of this life with a completely different perspective. Let me leave you with the apostle Paul's thoughts found in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 (NIV):
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body."
Thank you Lord Jesus that after suffering through life in this fallen world, we have the certain hope that we will spend eternity with You in Heaven! Amen.
