Their Piece in the Big Picture
My wife and I enjoy working jigsaw puzzles. Recently, we finished working a brand new 1000-piece puzzle with artwork representing all of the 63 U.S. National Parks. Unfortunately, it was missing four pieces. Our beautiful puzzle had holes in Hot Springs, Redwood, Kings Canyon, and Glacier Bay. We were truly disappointed. We just didn't feel like we had fully completed our puzzle.
As I was producing today's Footsteps with SonSet Solutions President David Russell, I noticed that David described a small ministry in Peru by saying, "their piece in the big picture is ..." I was instantly reminded of a puzzle. As members of the body of Christ, we are all called by Jesus to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19, ESV). Every believer is a piece in a huge, eternal, Great Commission, Kingdom of God puzzle. And, just as a jigsaw puzzle needs every piece in order to be completed, our omniscient and sovereign God has crafted each one of us to be an important piece in His perfect design. Now, think about these words of Jesus:
"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:37-40, NKJV)
Did you catch it? When the Father places us in Jesus' hand, Jesus assures us that He will "lose nothing." There are no missing pieces in the Kingdom of God--not even one! The puzzle will be completed to perfection. May The Lord be praised!
