She Kissed my Hand
"This little, elderly lady, she came running out of her house and came running down the street, and when she got to me, she threw her arms around me, then leaned back and took my hand, and she kissed the back of my hand." That's the story that TWR's Alan Travers tells on today's Footsteps. I really hope you'll give it a listen. Well, it turns out that this lady's kiss was a gesture of gratefulness, and it reminds me of the story in Luke 17 of Jesus and the ten lepers. After Jesus showed mercy to them and healed them, "one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks" (Luke 17:15-16, NKJV). Jesus then asks what happened to the other nine? Weren't they also thankful? Before we point our judgmental fingers at them, I think we should do some self-evaluation. Do we resemble the one grateful leper or possibly "the little, elerly lady" in today's program? Or, are we more like the other nine lepers who failed to thank Jesus?
