As they were going out, a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him. After the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” – Matthew 9:32-33

Nothing can compare to the power of God in our lives. The same power that was given to Jesus—the power to heal, comfort, release from bondage, and restore—is living inside of you and me. The crowds that followed Christ were amazed because they had never seen anything like the miracles Jesus performed.

This particular miracle immediately followed three very important healings (Matthew 9:18-31). All of this was meant to send a very clear message—Jesus had power over spiritual darkness. As you think about the activity of the spiritual realm at work around you, never forget that Christ is Lord over all and that He is watching over you. When something goes wrong in your life, the first place to run is to Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 9, wherever Jesus went, people knew who He was. Even the demons knew and shook in His presence.

Why do you want to go to Jesus before you run to a friend or to another person? The reason is that He has the answer to all your greatest needs. If there is a spiritual problem, He knows how to lead you through it. If it is a financial problem, He has promised to provide for every need, including the wisdom you need to become free from debt.

If you feel as though you are being oppressed or depressed by the enemy, turn to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to shine His holy light on your situation and to counsel you through His Word. Nothing can compare to the wisdom and ability of Jesus. The world and the enemy of our souls may try to imitate Jesus’ omnipotent ability, but they cannot come close. All things in heaven and on earth are under His authority.
