"AM in West Africa is still big.  It's still very big!" maintains Garth Kennedy, station director for TWR's transmitting facility in West Africa.  In fact, Garth goes on to say that "the very first item people who have money would like to buy, once they have satisfied the needs of food, is a radio."  Why?  Garth gives several reasons on today's program, so make sure you listen to it.  But first, let me add a few extra reasons.  For instance, radio is intimate.  It provides companionship with trusted voices.  It's one of the quickest, most effective ways of providing information.  Comparatively speaking, it's inexpensive.  Plus, technically, it's just plain reliable.
