You Are Not Alone
And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. – Romans 5:3-5
Detours are not random. They are not chance happenings which force you to slow down, re-evaluate and look to God for a way out. Detours always come with a purpose. Much of that purpose has to do with waiting on God to set things up for your arrival. It will also include God developing you so that you are ready when you do arrive. Whatever the case, we can know for certain that the God who hung the stars in the sky is able to bring your detour to an end if He wanted to. So if you are still there, He still has a reason.
When I get up to go to work, I pick out an ironed shirt. The reason I do that is because if the shirt is not ironed, it’s wrinkled. In order to get the wrinkles out, a little heat has to be put on a shirt. Now, whoever is ironing the shirt is not trying to be mean to my wardrobe. They are just making the shirt look good enough to wear.
When God sends you on a detour, He is not hating on you. He is not being mean to you. He is just making you ready because He wants to wear you as His representative. He wants to look good with you reflecting His image and His name.
Yes, the ironing process sometimes gets a little warm. It may even get a little bit uncomfortable. The steam of your pain rises at times, but it is only because God has a purpose and a plan for your life. He is working on you and in you to perfectly carry out that purpose for Him.
Extraordinary trials provide the opportunity for extraordinary preparation because they are leading to an extraordinary purpose. If you have been going through some rough things, life has been tough, and detours won’t seem to leave you alone, just know that God is up to something great. God has got something commensurate with your pain as He is taking you to your pinnacle.
