Chapter 5: A Desperate Prayer

Hannah's tears are falling thick and fast. She can't sit at the Thanksgiving dinner any longer. Where is she going? Hannah threads her way between the tents to the Tabernacle, the Lord's House. Hannah kneels down on the Tabernacle floor to pray. She prays silently. Her lips move, but no sound comes. High Priest Eli is watching her. He's sure he knows what the trouble is. "Stop this drunken behaviour!" he says roughly. "Get out of here till you sober up!" Eli did not know why Hannah was distressed, but God knew.
