How to Pray - What to Pray about
Much has been written on the subject of prayer. Perhaps it’s because it seems somewhat mysterious. There’s no specific method and no guaranteed outcome. Why should we pray, then? Is it just to get what we want, or to change God’s mind about something? No…it is to fulfill one of mankind's’ greatest needs – to have fellowship with our Creator. On our program today, Barbara Sandbek, will explore the Scripture to see how we can pray more effectively.
How to Fear God Correctly
If we fear God the way we’re supposed to, we won’t be afraid of other things, because God’s perfect love casts out fear. Yes, as Believers, we don’t have to be afraid of God, but we must still respect and reverence Him. How do we rightly fear God? This is the subject matter of our program today. We’ll be covering a lot of Scripture, so grab your Bible and take notes as Barbara dives into God’s Word.
What to Do When We Fear
People have said their #1 fear is public speaking. Other fears include death - yours or a loved ones, danger, the environment, darkness, failure, the future or any unknown thing or event, your children’s well-being, war, sickness, change, loss, the IRS or police officers, doctors and the consequences of sin. So what do we do with this fear? Join our host, Barbara Sandbek, and explore the Scripture together as we seek to find the answer.
How to Handle Anger Correctly
Did you know that being angry is not a sin? In fact, God Almighty gets angry and He certainly does not sin. However, dealing with our anger improperly can result in sin. On this program, our host, Barbara Sandbek, will discuss when anger is justified and when it’s not, using an example from the life of a Biblical character. We’ll also cover ways to diffuse our anger so that we handle it correctly. This is so important to know because . . .
Is All Anger Wrong?
When we think of the word ‘anger’ we immediately begin to FEEL what that word means because its definition is more of a description of what it does to us than what it is. Can a true Christ follower get angry? Of course! Getting angry is not a sin, but how we deal with it can be. Ephesians 4:26 says, “In your anger do not sin." You may be surprised to know, it’s not always a bad thing to feel, so, don’t change your dial. On this program, we are going to see how to handle it correctly.
Love the Right Kind of Way
God had emotions, too. He experiences delight. He rejoices. He can be pleased or not pleased and He gets angry. In addition, God is zealous for His Name, compassionate toward us, jealous for our love, and hates sin. But, over and above all these emotions is His incredible love, which is Who He is. Today we will once again look at the emotion of love.
How to Handle Emotions Correctly
God intended our emotions for good. In fact, He wants us to love Him passionately - with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. God has emotions, especially where His children are concerned. God IS love. He lavishes that love on us in how He cares for us, and by what He did through Christ, to save our souls for eternity. As you listen today, ask God to show you how He wants you to demonstration these emotions He has built into you, as we study the passions of King David.
Emotions - Can You Trust Them - Part 1
The popular saying goes - ‘If it feels good - do it.’ sounds freeing, BUT, feelings usually reveal themselves to be unreliable and even a bit foolish at times. We can’t live our lives solely based on emotions! On this program, our host, Barbara Sandbek, begins a new series, entitled, ‘Making the best of our emotions’. It’s an exciting topic so don’t miss a single broadcast.
Strongholds
When you think of the word ‘stronghold’ what comes to mind - a mighty fortress, a safe, secure place - or possibly a habit or mind-set that inhibits a person from being what God made them to be, or doing what God has for them to do?
Waiting - the Results of Not Waiting
Waiting is never an easy thing to do, but it is part of life, and useful for our spiritual growth. Susannah Spurgeon, the wife of Charles Spurgeon, counseled her own heart while waiting with these words: “The Lord has strewn the pages of God’s Word with promises of blessedness to those who wait for Him. And remember, His slightest Word stands fast and sure; it can never fail you. So, my soul, see that you have a PROMISE underneath thee, for then your waiting will be RESTING and a FIRM FOOTHOLD, for your hope will give you CONFIDENCE in Him who has said, ‘They shall not be ashamed that wait for Me.’” Psalm 37:7a says… Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him. Let’s continue now as our host Barbara Sandbek introduces our topic again with a fitting song.
