From the 49th chapter of the book of Genesis, Gideon Levytam points to the seventh prophetic promise found in the Hebrew Scriptures concerning the promise of the coming Messiah. The Messiah - הַמָּשִׁיחַ would be from the Seed of Judah, who was one of the twelve sons of Jacob. When Jacob was old and ready to die, he called his twelve sons, saying, "gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days". To Judah he said, "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be." Genesis 49:10. The Messiah would enter this world through the royal line of Judah, He would be born into a kingly line in order to rule as king over His people Israel. As predicted, beginning with King David, the sceptre of kingship continued on until the exile of the tribe of Judah to Babylon. History, and the New Covenant records the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, that He was born to the line of Judah. Luke 3:3. While Jesus was rejected, and died as a substitute at His first coming, Jacob's prophetic promise stands, that unto Shiloh, (A Title of the Messiah), shall the gathering of the people be. We read in Revelation 5:5; Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. This promise is yet future, when Israel and all the nations of the world will come to recognize that the Lord Jesus / Shiloh, is the Messiah, who will rightfully rule as king of kings and Lord of Lords.
