From Chapter 8:9-14 of the prophecy of Daniel (דָנִיאֶל), brother Gideon Levytam continues with Daniel’s vision, and the activities of the goat (the Grecian Empire) that defeated the ram (the Medo-Persian Empire). Daniel sees that the horn, (the Grecian Empire), which initially was very strong but eventually breaks down, when Alexander the Great dies at an early age. Following his death, another four strong horns from the Grecian Empire, rose to power, these were four successors to Alexander the Great. Out of one of the successors, rose up a little horn, a king, who exalted himself against God and against God's people Israel. This prideful Grecian-Syrian king, known as Antiochus Epiphanes, defiled the Temple of God in Jerusalem, casting down God’s Law the to the ground, and persecuted God’s people, the Jews. Antiochus Epiphanies was defeated when God stepped in and helped his people, resulting in the cleansing and rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem, and the establishing of the Feast of חֲנֻכָּה, Hanukkah.
