I’ve had it both ways in my family. One of my kids could have taught her Earth science class and was an amazing tutor in math, but another one of my kids struggled at every turn. Both kids raised the same—but with very different desires, understanding, and talents. It’s easy as parents to get angry and upset, especially when you get involved to try to help fix the situation. The reality is that your child is responsible for their own choices, and they will eventually come to understand that. Don’t be afraid to allow them to fail, though. If we never failed, how would we ever learn anything? Psalm 119:71 says, “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I could learn your statutes” (CSB).
