From Hebrews 10:1-4, in the study of the Book of Hebrews (אֶל־הָעִבְרִים), Brother Gideon Levytam highlights how the author emphasizes that God’s Holy Law was given to Israel as a shadow of the good things to come. Every sacrifice offered served as a shadow, pointing the Hebrew offerer to the future, final sacrifice of the Messiah. In the fullness of time, the Messiah would come to offer Himself as the ultimate and final atonement. The blood of animal sacrifices, such as those of bulls and goats, could not take away sins but only covered them temporarily. These sacrifices foreshadowed the sacrifice of the Messiah, Yeshua, who came into the world to offer Himself once and for all, taking away the sins of the world. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29.
