Jesus the Messiah presents Himself as the promised Shepherd of Israel, of whom David wrote, The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1. He fulfilled the prophecy, smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered, Zechariah 13:7. As The Good Shepherd, Yeshua willingly laid down His life for His sheep, when He died on the Roman cross for the sins of this world.
