Second Timothy is the apostle Paul’s final letter, written to his beloved son in the faith. Paul gives clear indications in the book that he knows his departure is soon at hand, and therefore he wanted to encourage Timothy in his ministry. The aging apostle knew that Timothy was struggling. He had been having health problems, and it was easy for some people to write him off. This highly personal letter was meant to encourage him to step up to the plate, to take his ministry seriously, and to see it as a long-term commitment. It was important for Timothy to gain right perspective in the face of the stresses and strains, demands and disappointments of ministry. Paul wanted to encourage him by his own testimony of having fought the good fight and finished his own race (4:7). Paul didn’t throw in the towel when things\ got tough; he chose the right battles to fight and he won them. He desired Timothy do the same. Paul also wanted Timothy to pass this message along to those coming behind him in ministry. And the apostle gave Timothy—and all of us—the best reason of all for being faithful: to receive the crown of righteousness from the Lord himself, which is available to all believers who faithfully serve the King and his kingdom. 5 Lessons from the Book of 2 Timothy - Tony Evans #shorts #1timothy #leadership #tonyevans _____________________________________________________________________________ ▶ Do you know Jesus as your Savior? https://tonyevans.org/know-jesus-christ/ ▶ Stream Sermons: https://tonyevans.org/podcast/ ▶▶ Free Sermon App: https://subsplash.com/tonyevans/app/ ▶▶ DONATE: https://give.tonyevans.org/the-alternative/donation ▶ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drtonyevans/ ▶ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drtonyevans/ ▶ Are you a preacher?
