“In India we didn’t study evolution, we studied science”, said the young engineer working in the United States.

A similar sentiment was voiced to me by a young medical intern whom I sat next to on a plane. Though trained in Jordan he was going to be tested for certification by the American Medical Association, and he had already done very well in the first round of testing.

He said that outside of one introductory biology course he had taken, in which they had learned about Darwin only from a historical perspective, he had had no training in evolution in his country whatsoever.

The point is that very competent science professionals are entering their professions without the supposed scientific essential of evolutionism, and succeeding quite well - in many cases better than American students. This is when shrill anti-creationist crusaders and much of the scientific hierarchy have claimed that we are declining in science education “because we minimize evolution”!

For more than 60 years Creation Moments has been telling the world that evolution is filled with pseudo-science. One proof of this truth is that many in the developing world who are truly serious about science education realize that knowledge of evolutionary theory is quite non-essential to the training of science professionals. Evolutionary terminology and interpretations have grown up “around” much of science over the years. They are “just-so-stories” about the science. They are not the science itself. They are essentially modern “myths” about the science. Evolutionary “modeling” is quite secondary to the science itself.

In fact, the overemphasis on teaching evolution, instead of true science, disadvantages Americans relative to many other countries, who now graduate the scientists and engineers we currently have to import. In America, it seems the dictates of an ideological agenda have superseded the practical aspect of graduating highly competent science professionals.
